What Is a QR Code?
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimensional barcode that can be scanned by any smartphone camera to instantly open a URL, connect to a Wi-Fi network, save a contact, compose an email, send an SMS, and much more. QR codes were originally developed in 1994 for the automotive industry but have become ubiquitous in marketing, packaging, payment systems, events, restaurants, and everyday digital life.
EazyStudio's QR code generator creates high-resolution QR codes entirely in your browser. You can customise colours, add a logo, choose error correction levels, and download your QR code as a PNG or SVG — all for free with no account required.
Supported QR Code Types
This tool supports seven QR code formats: URL (links to any website), Wi-Fi (lets people connect to a network by scanning, with optional WPA password), vCard (saves a contact card with name, phone, email, and address), Text (plain text message), Email (opens a pre-filled email compose window), SMS (opens a pre-filled text message), and Phone (dials a number). Simply select the type from the toolbar and fill in the fields.
How to Create a Custom QR Code
Choose your QR type — click URL, WiFi, vCard, or another type from the toolbar at the top of the tool.
Enter your content — fill in the relevant fields (e.g. a URL, Wi-Fi network name and password, or contact details).
Customise colours — change the foreground and background colours to match your brand. Pick from presets or enter a custom hex code.
Add a logo (optional) — upload a PNG or SVG logo to embed in the centre of the QR code. Use a high error correction level (Q or H) when adding a logo.
Adjust size and error correction — select the output size and error correction level. Higher correction (H) makes the code more resilient but denser.
Download — save as PNG for digital use or SVG for print-ready scalable output.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do QR codes expire?
Static QR codes generated by this tool never expire. The QR code encodes the data directly (e.g. a URL or contact), so it will work as long as the destination (like the website it links to) exists. Dynamic QR codes that redirect through a third-party service may expire if you cancel that service, but this tool generates static QR codes only.
What error correction level should I use?
Level L (7%) is best for clean digital use where the QR code won't be damaged. Level M (15%) is good for general use. Level Q (25%) is recommended when adding a logo. Level H (30%) is best for print use where the code may get dirty or partially obscured.
PNG or SVG — which should I download?
Download PNG for digital use — websites, emails, presentations, and social media. Download SVG for print use — business cards, posters, and packaging — because SVG scales to any size without pixelating.
Is the QR code data sent to a server?
No. All QR code generation happens entirely in your browser. Your URLs, contact details, Wi-Fi passwords, and other data never leave your device.
